OCTOBER PARKING IN SALEM

October in Salem is a busy time of year with various events and festivities surrounding the month long “Haunted Happenings” celebration. Planning ahead where you intend to park not only helps to get you out of your car efficiently to enjoy all that the City has to offer, it also helps to reduce traffic congestion by getting vehicles off the roads and into lots more expediently.

Parking Options

The City of Salem has several public parking options including garages, surface lots and on-street parking. The City highly recommends heading to a garage as the surface lots and on-street spaces fill quickly.

City Garages

The city operates two garage facilities, Museum Place Garage and South Harbor Garage, which offer over 1,100 parking spaces in the center of downtown and near the waterfront. Please check the parking counter below for availability at the Museum Place Garage. For a map of these garage locations, click HERE.

(Help the City reduce congestion. If less than 75 spaces are available at the Museum Place Garage, we suggest that you change your GPS to another facility, as roadways around the facility become heavily congested once the facility fills.)

Museum Place Garage: 1 New Liberty Street, Salem, MA 01970
South Harbor Garage: 10 Congress Street, Salem, MA 01970

Please note that on October weekends, parking at City garages and at the Church Street lot is $20 CASH ONLY.

Surface Lots and On- Street Parking

There are numerous on-street and surface parking lots throughout our vibrant downtown for up to 4-hours of parking. These spots are typically the first to be taken. Should you arrive on an October weekend after 11am, we suggest you direct yourself to one of the garages above. For a map of all parking lots, click HERE.

Church Street Lot West, located at 29 Federal Street, offers all day parking. On weekends, parking is $20 CASH ONLY upon entering. (Salem residents with a valid ID park free on weekends, pending availability.) Weekday parking is hourly and uses a pay by plate/kiosk system.
